COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Tennis team rolled past Wilkes 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Bears improved to 7-3 as they played their first home match of the 2025 calendar year and won their sixth straight match which is the longest since winning six in a row during the 2015-16 season. Meanwhile, the Colonels lost their first match of the season and dropped to 6-1 overall.
Ursinus won all three doubles points to gain the opening point of the match. Junior
Fiona Finnerty and sophomore
Caroline Daly cruised past Julia Spaeth and Isabel Schreffler 6-1 at the No. 3 doubles spot while sophomore
Morgan Coupe and first-year
Katie Yu bested Kensington Edmond and Ava Vacula 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Senior
Allie Armour and junior
Bella Vassalluzzo completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 at the No. 1 spot over Tea Amerise and Sydney Farmer.
The Bears continued the dominance into singles action by taking all six points. Yu swept past Spaeth 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot and Armour took down Amerise 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for her 50th career win. Junior
Kate Rubinkam won a 6-1, 6-2 No. 3 singles match over Edmond while Coupe outlasted Schreffler 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 4 spot. Finnerty earned a 6-1, 6-3 No. 6 singles match over Vacula and Vassalluzzo capped the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Farmer at the No. 5 position.
Ursinus returns to action on Friday, March 28trh as they will travel to face Albright at 3:00 p.m.
