HANOVER, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team recorded a thrilling 4-3 win over Gettysburg in Centennial Conference action on Saturday at the York Adams Community Tennis Association (YACTA) indoor courts.
With the win, the Bears improved to 9-6 overall and leveled their Centennial Conference record to 1-1 overall. Meanwhile, the Bullets fell to 6-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The Bullets swept all three doubles matches to earn the opening point of the match. Junior
Andrei Bogdan and sophomore
Deniz Finkel lost 6-1 to Mikey Fellman and Adam Contract at the No. 1 spot before sophomore
Noah Dichter and first-year
Russell Nour were defeated 6-3 by Teo Burgess and Matt Porreca at the No. 2 position. Senior
Hunter Murray and first-year
Charles DiCicco dropped a tough 7-5 match to Owen Kutlu and JP Damare at No. 3 doubles.
Gettysburg won the first two singles matches to put them up 3-0 in the match and needing just one more win to take the match. Sophomore
Teddy Snyder lost 1-6, 0-6 to Fellman at the No. 1 spot and Bogdan dropped a 6-3, 3-6, 11-13 No. 2 singles match to Contract. Dichter started the comeback by defeating Ben O'Connor-Skloot 4-6, 7-5, 11-9 at the No. 3 singles spot and Nour downed Kutlu 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot. DiCicco took down Malek Mustafa 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot to tie the match and Murray delivered the winning 6-4, 6-3 match over Rex Bondi at No. 6 singles to complete the rally.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday, April 15th as they will host Dickinson at 4:00 p.m. in Centennial Conference action.
