COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Tennis team took down McDaniel 6-1 on a windy Wednesday afternoon at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Bears improved to 11-7 overall while the Green Terror fell to 4-10.
The Bears swept doubles play to gain the first point of the match. Juniors
Bella Vassalluzzo and
Kate Rubinkam rolled past Mackenzie McCarter and Jillian Lasher 6-1 in No. 2 doubles action before sophomores
Caroline Daly and
Julia Nitz bested Lauren Hoolahan and Emily Larson 6-0 at the No. 3 spot. Sophomore
Morgan Coupe and first-year
Katie Yu downed Stephanie Buttons and Lil Overcash 7-5 at the No. 1 position.
Vassalluzzo cruised past McCarter 6-0, 6-0 to open singles play at the No. 3 spot and Rubinkam turned in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles over Lasher. Nitz downed Larson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and Daly dropped the Bears lone match of the day at the No. 1 position to Buttons 1-6, 2-6. Yu rolled past Overcash 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 singles spot and Coupe defeated Hoolahan 6-0, 6-1 to close out the match at No. 5 singles.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, April 19th as they will host No. 23 Swarthmore for Senior Day at 11:00 a.m.
