Men's Lacrosse Defeats McDaniel 14-9 on Senior Day

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team closed out its 2025 season on a high note by defeating McDaniel 14-9 on senior day at Patterson Field on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference play.
 
 
With the win, the Bears finish their 2025 season 5-10 overall and 3-5 in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Green Terror fell to 4-13 overall and 0-8 in conference play.  Prior to the contest, the Bears honored its 10 seniors as a part of senior day ceremonies.
 
 
Ursinus came out hot out of the gates by scoring five goals in the first quarter to take the early lead. Senior Christopher Pucciarelli opened the scoring at the 10:51-mark and junior Harry Sweitzer quickly followed just over a minute later to make it 2-0. Sweitzer set up classmate Barrett Denlinger for the Bears third goal of the game at the 6:08-mark before first-year Daniel Rice added to the lead at the 3:24-mark. Pucciarelli added his second to make it 5-0 at the 2:52-mark before a 35-minute lightning delay ensued. Out of the delay, the Bears picked up right where the left off in the second quarter when junior Lars Homan scored at the 12:15-mark to make it 6-0. Rice scored his second goal less than two minutes later that made it 7-0 Ursinus at the 10:04-mark. Pucciarelli responded to a Bears own goal that got McDaniel on the board to put the Bears lead out to 8-1 at the 5:56-mark. McDaniel closed the half out with three straight goals that cut the lead down to 8-4 at the break.
 
 
The Bears halted the Green Terror run with two goals to start the third quarter when Denlinger scored at the 12:12-mark and Pucciarelli at the 7:55-mark after a crazy diving goal from a turnover. Denlinger struck again at the 1:58-mark to counter a McDaniel goal and put the Bears up 11-5. After five minutes of scoreless action to start the fourth quarter, the Green Terror scored to make it 11-6 before sophomore Jared Laskin scored at the 7:48-mark with the shot clock expiring to put the Bears back up six. Senior Ryan Strobel scored the first goal of his collegiate career at the 6:08-mark to put Ursinus up 13-6 and classmate Jack Shimer also netted his first collegiate goal that gave Ursinus a 14-7 lead.
 
 
Ursinus held a 49-41 shot advantage for the game and a 26-21 advantage in shots on goal. The Bears held a 40-30 advantage in ground balls and a slight 14-12 edge in faceoff wins. First-year goalkeeper Colon Daroch earned the win after making 13 saves in 60 minutes and McDaniel goalkeeper Zach Olvey made 12 saves. Pucciarelli matched his career-high of six points behind four goals and two assists and wraps his Ursinus career up with 106 points. Denlinger netted three goals and Sweitzer posted five points behind four assists and one goal to cap off a standout month of April.
