SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Ursinus softball team saw its 2025 season end one win from the Centennial Conference Championship round on Saturday afternoon at Swarthmore. The Bears rallied to defeat Muhlenberg 2-1 in the first elimination game of the day before being ousted by No. 14 Gettysburg 7-4 in the afternoon.

The Bears will conclude its season with a 22-20 overall record.

Ursinus 2, Muhlenberg 1

The Mules gained the initial 1-0 advantage in the top of the second on a single with the bases loaded, but a lineout that turned into a double play in the next at-bat prevented further damage.  Ursinus got its first hit in the bottom of the fourth on a single from first-year Reagan Robinson but managed just one hit in the first six innings. Junior pitcher Christa Andrusiewicz kept the Bears in the game by allowing just one hit herself after the second inning. Andrusiewicz worked around a one-out double in the fifth inning and a jam in the seventh inning after allowing the first two Mule runners to reach. Robinson kickstarted the rally in the seventh with a one-out double and senior Stephanie Wichman followed with a double of her own to score pinch runner Megan Mills to tie the game. Junior Riley Coneeny snuck a single in to advance Wichman before sophomore Madyson Hickman followed with a single up the middle to win the game.

Gettysburg 7, Ursinus 4

The Bullets, fresh off a 2-0 setback to Swarthmore the game before, got three runs in the bottom of the first off four hits to take the initial 3-0 advantage. However, the Bears began to climb back into the contest as they got two runs in the top of the third to cut into the deficit. Senior Samantha Mallen singled to lead off the inning before reclaiming the Centennial Conference single-season stolen base record with her 48th stolen base of the season. Robinson continued her strong day by doubling in Mallen with two outs that initially made it 3-1. Wichman drew a walk to keep the inning going and a throwing error on an infield single by Coneeny made it 3-2. Wichman was thrown out trying to take third base on the throwing error to end the inning. Hickman led the top of the fourth off with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from senior Rachel Hartman. Mallen singled in Hickman with two outs to tie the game and a single from first-year Anna Evanchik moved Mallen to third. The second hit from Mallen gave her the single-season Centennial Conference school record. Junior Kayla Carr put the Bears in front for the first time with a single to centerfield that made it 4-3. However, the Bullets countered immediately with the decisive half inning of the game with four runs to go up 7-4. Ursinus loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the fifth before a fly out to centerfield ended their best threat of the rest of the game.

Mallen went 2-for-4 against Gettysburg with two runs scored and an RBI to complete one of the most decorated careers in Ursinus history. Mallen will leave Ursinus as the Bears all-time leader in hits with 202, stolen bases with 120, runs scored with 139 and the all-time Centennial Conference leader in stolen bases. She also leaves ranking fourth all-time in Centennial Conference history in hits and runs scored.

Robinson and Coneeny each combined for three hits on Saturday and Carr went 2-for-4 with an RBI against the Bullets. Andrusiewicz earned the win over the Mules by allowing one earned run on six hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
