COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Soccer team played to a scoreless tie with Elizabethtown on Wednesday night at Patterson Field in non-conference action.
The tie moves the Bears record to 4-1-1 overall while the Blue Jays move to 1-2-3 overall.
Ursinus controlled play throughout the first half and sent three shots on the Blue Jays net that were all saved. In the second half, junior
Sophia Cooper rang a shot off the crossbar in the 62nd minute of the game before senior
Paige Flaugh sent a decent free kick look high of the net three minutes later. The Blue Jays had their first two and only shots on goal saved in the 77th and 78th minute. Senior
Alicia Page ripped a low shot that was saved by the diving Blue Jays goalkeeper in the 8th minute and sophomore
Emma Woch had a shot just high of the net a minute later. Woch then had a pair of shots hit the crossbar in the final five minutes of the game that kept the game scoreless.
The Bears held a sizable 17-4 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. Ursinus also had a small advantage in corner kicks at 2-0. Sophomore goalkeeper
Mallory Toomey made two saves in 90 minutes to earn her third shutout of the season while Ella Smith made five saves for the Blue Jays in the full time.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, September 20th as they will host Dickinson in their Centennial Conference Opener at 3:00 p.m.
