Dychdala Records 1,000th Career Assist Against Rutgers-Camden

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior Erin Dychdala recorded her 1,000th career assist in the Ursinus Volleyball's non-conference match against Rutgers-Camden on Thursday night at Helfferich Hall. The Scarlet Raptors won the match 3-1 (25-27, 19-25, 25-16, 16-25).

Dychdala registered a career-high 27 assists as she crossed over the 1,000-career assist plateau and led the team with 14 digs while posting three kills. Senior Reena Robinson led the Bears with 12 kills and added six digs while classmate Mel Eglinton tallied 10 kills and seven digs. Senior Lexi Couch totaled nine kills, four digs, and two blocks.

Ursinus initially took a 3-1 lead before the Scarlet Raptors won eight of the next 10 points to go up 9-5. The Bears struck back by winning eight of the next 10 of their own to go back up 13-11 until Rutgers-Camden regained the lead at 15-14. The set of runs continued as Ursinus went back up 17-16 to only see the Scarlet Raptors win three straight points to go up 19-17. Three straight Ursinus points put them back in front at 20-19 and they moved to set point at 24-23 to force a Scarlet Raptors timeout. However, the Scarlet Raptors out of the timeout won four of the next five points to end the set.

Rutgers-Camden continued momentum into the second set by going up 5-1 early before the Bears rallied to get within one point at 6-5. Ursinus tied the set at seven, but the Scarlet Raptors won six of the next eight points to go up 13-9. The Bears won five straight points to take their first lead of the set at 14-13 until the Rutgers-Camden responded by winning nine of the next 11 points to take command of the set at 22-16. The Bears would get no closer than five the rest of the set.

The Scarlet Raptors won the first four points of the third set, but the Bears stormed back by winning 12 of the next 14 points to go up 12-6. Ursinus continued its hot-hitting set that totaled a .323 percentage and extended its lead out to 17-10. The Bears stayed in control by taking a lead by as many as nine points at 21-12 and won the set at 25-16.

The Bears momentum did not carry into the fourth set as the Scarlet Raptors took an early 6-1 lead. Ursinus fought back and won seven of the next 10 points to pull within a point at 9-8 before a Scarlet Raptors run of winning nine of 11 points to go up 18-10. Ursinus would get no closer than five points the rest of the way.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, September 27th as they will compete in the Gwynedd Mercy Tri-Match with the host Griffins at 11:00 a.m. and Arcadia at 1:00 p.m.
