ASTON, Pa. – The Ursinus women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (26–24, 26–24, 25–18) highly-contested contest to DeSales on the first day of the Neumann Knights Invitational on Friday evening.

Reena Robinson led the Bears with a team-high eight kills while adding two blocks and two aces. Senior

Lauren McGinn each tallied six kills and eight digs while senior
Erin Dychdala paced the Bears with 18 assists and 15 digs in addition to three kills.
The Bears went up 2-1 early in the first set and DeSales won five of the next six points to go up 6-3. The Bulldogs continued their run by taking eight of the next 12 points to go up 14-7, but Ursinus rallied by winning 12 of the next 15 points to take the lead back at 19-17. The Bears responded to back-to-back DeSales points with three straight of their own to go up 22-19 before the Bulldogs won five of the next six points to reach set point at 24-23. An attack error forced extra points until DeSales won the next two points to win the set.
Ursinus gained the early advantage in the second set by taking a 7-3 lead and worked their advantage out to 9-4. However, DeSales won 12 of the next 15 points to go up 16-12. Ursinus continued the game of runs by retaking the lead at 20-17 after winning eight of the next nine points. The Bears moved to set point at 24-20, but DeSales ran off six straight points to steal the second set.
The Bulldogs carried off momentum from the second set by taking a 6-2 lead in the third set and eventually an 8-3 advantage. Ursinus got within one at 8-7 following four straight points but would get no closer than there. With the score at 10-8, the Bulldogs delivered the decisive run by taking 10 of the next 14 points to go up 20-12. Ursinus got within six before DeSales closed out the set and match.
The Bears return to action tomorrow, September 6th as they will play two at the Neumann Knights Invitational starting with Widener at 10:00 a.m. followed by Rowan at 2:00 p.m.
