COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus men's basketball cruised to a 94-65 victory over Haverford College on Wednesday evening inside Helfferich Hall.
With the victory, Ursinus improves to 9-4 on the season and open Centennial Conference play 2-0. Meanwhile, the Fords fall to 6-8 overall and 0-2 in conference action. The victory marks the Bears' seventh straight in the series with Haverford dating back to February of 2022. The 29-point victory is the largest by the Bears since defeating Haverford, 87-58 victory in January of 2017.

Mohamed Toure paced the Bears offense with his first double-double of the season behind a season-high 25 points and 11 rebounds. Classmate
Nick Nocito tallied 12 points and a team-high eight assists, while sophomore
Jamie Murphy added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. First-year
Tomas Belaiter recorded 13 points and two rebounds, while classmate
Jasper Buck was the fifth Bear to reach double-figures, collecting 12 points finishing 4-of-4 from three-point range.
Haverford jumped out to their lone lead of the contest at 5-2, behind converting on each of the first two scoring opportunities. Next, Ursinus converted off an offensive rebound as Nocito found junior
Luke Nieman for a three-pointer to tie the contest at five. The Bears used the momentum and went on a 15-4 run and held a 20-9 lead with 12:05 remaining in the first half. The run was highlighted by seven points from Murphy and six points by Toure to give Ursinus a comfortable lead. After a Haverford timeout, Ursinus scored five straight points leading to a 9-4 run extending their lead to 29-13 with 8:42 remaining in the half. The Fords answered with an uncommon four-point play, but Ursinus responded with eight straight points and led by 20 at the 6:03-mark. The Bears closed out the period on a 16-13 run and held a 53-20 lead heading into the halftime break.
Junior
Matthew Field connected on a basket to open the second half for Ursinus, before a 9-5 run by the Fords made the score 58-39 with 16:10 to play. The Fords used a 9-2 run to cut their deficit to just 12 at 60-48 at the 12:59-mark, but Ursinus responded with 11 straight points to extend their lead to 23 with 9:52 remaining in the contest. Both teams traded baskets with Ursinus stretching their lead to as much as 32 en route to the 94-65 victory.
Ursinus shot 54.5% (36-of-66) from the field, 38.1% (8-of-21) from beyond the arc, and 73.7% (14-of-19) at the free-throw line. Haverford shot 31.1% (23-of-74) from the floor, 17.4% (4-of-23) from deep, and 68.2% (15-of-22) at the charity stripe. The Bears held a sizeable 24-4 advantage for points off turnovers and held a 31-5 lead in fast break points. Haverford's Emmanuel Cheung-Hernandez led the Fords offense with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, January 17th as they travel to Gettysburg College for a Centennial Conference matchup starting at 3 p.m.
