COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Junior
Erin Roe was named the NCGA East Region All-Around Gymnast of the Week, the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association announced Wednesday.
Roe won the all-around for the Bears on Sunday at Ithaca College with a score of 38.50, just shy of her career-best 38.575. She began the meet on the uneven bars, winning the event with a 9.675, then earned a 9.725 to take first place on the vault. Roe matched her season high on the floor exercise with a 9.675 before closing the meet on the balance beam with a 9.425.
It marked the third time in her career that Roe has been named the NCGA East All-Around Athlete of the Week after earning the honor twice last season. During her sophomore campaign, Roe was named an All-American on the vault, bars and in the all-around at nationals. She currently leads Division III in the all-around this season with an average score of 38.100 and ranks third in the East with a season-high vault score of 9.725.
The Bears return to action Sunday, Feb. 1, when they host SUNY Brockport for an NCGA East dual meet beginning at 1 p.m. inside Helfferich Hall.
