Football Ranked 25th in Latest AFCA Division III Coaches Poll

WACO, Texas – The Ursinus Football team was ranked No. 25 in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' Poll, released by the organization on Monday afternoon.

The Bears find themselves nationally ranked for the first time since October 2010 when they were slotted No. 21 by the AFCA and No. 24 by D3football.com. Overall, it is the third week in program history that Ursinus Football was nationally ranked. The Bears received 79 points in the poll to round it out as the only Centennial Conference team in the poll. Ursinus also was listed in the most recent D3football.com poll released on Sunday afternoon with eight points in the receiving votes section.

The ranking comes off the heels of the Bears emphatic 35-14 win over Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon to move to 6-0 for the second time in the past three seasons. Ursinus is one of two teams with an unblemished 3-0 Centennial Conference mark along with Carnegie Mellon who the Bears finish the regular season with. Ursinus currently has the highest scoring offense in the Centennial at 31.7 points per game while ranking second in scoring defense at 13.0 points per game.

Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, October 25th as the Bears will travel to face Franklin & Marshall, who received seven votes in the AFCA poll, at 1:00 p.m.
