COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – A pair of gymnasts won individual events to lead the Ursinus gymnastics team in its NCGA East dual meet against SUNY Brockport on Sunday inside Helfferich Hall.
The Bears recorded a team score of 187.175, posting marks of 47.675 on vault, 44.750 on bars, 46.900 on beam and 47.850 on floor. Brockport finished just ahead of Ursinus with a team total of 188.250, compiling scores of 47.050 on vault, 45.325 on bars, 47.425 on beam and 48.450 on floor.
Ursinus opened the meet on vault, outscoring Brockport 47.675–47.050 in the event. Junior
Erin Roe led the Bears with a second-place finish, scoring a 9.725 to tie her season high. Senior
Sidney Schreiber followed with a third-place finish at 9.675, while sophomore
Michaela Duffy placed fourth with a season-high score of 9.575. First-year
Lily Stewart rounded out the lineup, finishing eighth with a season-high 9.400.
The Bears moved to bars in the second rotation and totaled a team score of 44.750. Senior
Kylie Ruggiero won the event with a season-high score of 9.525, while Roe placed third with a 9.425. Junior
Lauren Coleman finished fifth with a 9.250, and classmate
Lucy Warburton placed eighth with a score of 8.800.
On balance beam, Warburton paced Ursinus with a second-place finish, tying her season high with a score of 9.675. Junior
Arianna Ellis followed in third with a 9.550, while Schreiber tied for fifth at 9.450. Duffy rounded out the scoring for the Bears, placing eighth with a 9.400.
Ursinus closed the meet with its strongest performance on floor, posting a team score of 47.850. Schreiber won the event with a 9.775, while Warburton finished second on the team and tied for fifth overall with a 9.625. Ellis tied a season high with a 9.600 to place eighth, with Roe and Duffy rounding out the lineup at 9.525 and 9.325, respectively.
Roe finished second in the all-around with a total score of 37.225, highlighted by a 9.725 on vault, 9.425 on bars, 8.550 on beam and 9.525 on floor.
The Bears return to action Sunday, February 8th, traveling to Utica University for an NCGA East dual meet beginning at 1 p.m.
