With the loss, Ursinus opened the season 0-1, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 2-0. Senior Harry Sweitzer led the Bears' offense, scoring a game-high four goals to tie his career best. Sweitzer has scored four or more goals in five of his last six games dating back to last season.

Senior Aidan Kirk and sophomore Daniel Rice each scored two goals apiece, while senior Nicholas Grahame tallied five ground balls. First-year Peyton Bannak collected four ground balls in his collegiate debut.

The Bears jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just 26 seconds into the contest as Bannak won the opening faceoff and Kirk capitalized on a scoring chance to collect the first goal of the season for Ursinus. The Yellow Jackets answered with a goal at the 12:22 mark, but Ursinus bounced back with consecutive scores from first-year Reid Weisshaar and Sweitzer to grab a 3-1 lead with 7:43 remaining in the opening period. The goals marked the first of Weisshaar's career and Sweitzer's 63rd goal and 100th career point. After the break, Randolph-Macon tallied the opening goal of the second half to cut the deficit to 10-9. Both defenses stepped up over the next 10 minutes, as neither team capitalized on scoring opportunities, until Randolph-Macon tied the game at 10 with 5:51 remaining in the third quarter. The Bears responded with a goal from senior Chris Bryant at the 4:26 mark to regain an 11-10 lead. Junior Nick Pomajevich increased the Ursinus advantage to two with 2:48 remaining, but a pair of Yellow Jackets goals tied the contest at 12 entering the final quarter.
