COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Basketball team used a complete performance to earn a dominant 84-59 win over Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference action on Wednesday evening at Helfferich Hall.
With the win, the Bears improved to 16-8 overall and 9-3 in Centennial Conference action behind their fourth win in their last five games. The win also secures that Ursinus will be seeded no lower than fourth in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament which means the Bears will host at least one game in the Tournament. Menwhile, the Mules fell to 12-12 overall and 5-7 in Centennial play and will need to beat McDaniel on Saturday to secure the sixth and final seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament.

Mohamed Toure continued his sizzling month of February with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range. Toure has scored 20+ points in four of the last five Bears contests and continues to lead the Centennial in Conference game scoring at 20.5 points per game. Junior
Luke Nieman tallied 17 points behind going 7-of-12 from the field and made a trio of three-pointers. Sophomore
Jamie Murphy totaled 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting while adding five rebounds, a game-high five assists, and one steal.
Toure got the Bears started with a three-pointer on their first possession of the game and it set the tone as they raced out to an 11-2 lead at the 16:34-mark of the first half. The Bears countered a quick 5-0 Mules spurt with an 11-4 run to go up 22-11 at the 11:13-mark of the first half. Muhlenberg rallied back into a two-possession game at 26-22 after using an 11-4 run of their own but would get no closer than there. Ursinus blew open the game by closing the first half on a 15-4 run in the final 6:09 and went up 41-26 at halftime.
Ursinus did not let their lead slip into single digits for the remainder of the contest and reached 20 points at 48-28 at the 18:04-mark. Leading 52-37, the Bears ripped off 13 straight points to go up 65-37 at the 9:47-mark and held the Mules without a point for a span of 6:17. A three-pointer by senior
Graham Eilberg gave the Bears their largest lead of the game at 79-49 with 4:40 left in regulation and the Bears cruised the rest of the way.
The Bears shot a sizzling 55.9 percent (33-of-59) from the field and 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from three-point range. Ursinus went 72.7 percent (8-of-11) and held a 35-28 rebounding advantage. Meanwhile, the Mules went 37.3 percent (22-of-59) from the field and 10-of-31 (31.3%) from three-point range. Muhlenberg went a near-perfect 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the free throw line.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, February 21
st as they will host Washington College for Senior Day in their regular season finale at 3:00 p.m.
