BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Behind a fast start, the Ursinus women's lacrosse team earned a 14-4 season-opening victory over Moravian University on Saturday afternoon on the road.
With the win, Ursinus opens the 2026 season at 1-0, while the Greyhounds fall to 0-2 overall. The victory marked the third straight season Ursinus has won its opener and the second consecutive win over Moravian after a 22-10 victory last season at home.

Whitney Hershey led the Bears' offense with her second career hat trick, scoring three goals and causing two turnovers. Classmate

Ursinus jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with 11:23 to play in the first quarter as Hershey, Noto and Michaud each scored their first goals of the season. Noto and Michaud each received passes from the top of the circle before beating their defenders and finding the back of the net to give Ursinus an early cushion. After a green card on the Greyhounds, Ursinus capitalized with a goal by Buggy to increase the lead to 4-0 with 9:07 remaining. On the play, senior
Skyler Bogdan found Buggy cutting in front of the crease for an open one-on-one opportunity and her first collegiate goal. The Bears maintained momentum throughout the remainder of the quarter, outshooting Moravian 3-1 and taking a four-goal lead into the second.
Ursinus capitalized again to open the second quarter, taking advantage of a woman-up opportunity as Hershey tallied her second goal off an assist from Noto. On the play, Noto drew two defenders before finding Hershey, who spun and fired a shot past the Greyhounds' goalkeeper to give Ursinus a 5-0 lead. The Bears kept the pressure on the offensive end with goals from Hershey and Noto to increase the lead to 7-0 with 5:06 remaining in the first half. Moravian scored the final goal of the half at the 3:16 mark, but Ursinus held a 7-1 lead at the break.
The Greyhounds opened the second half with a goal at the 14:23 mark of the third quarter, but Vizian converted on a pass from DeSiato to stretch the advantage to 8-2 with 13:34 remaining in the period. Both defenses then tightened up and halted the opposing offenses until DeSiato scored with 3:04 remaining to give Ursinus a 9-2 lead entering the fourth.
Ursinus carried the momentum into the final period, scoring back-to-back goals to extend the lead to 11-2 with 13 minutes to play. During the run, Vizian netted her second goal, while Michaud converted off a Vizian assist to push the advantage to nine. In goal, first-year
Addi Guthrie-Pimpinella earned her first career victory with six saves. Moravian's Lily Parker took the loss after recording 16 saves in 60 minutes of action. The Bears held a 36-15 advantage in shots, a 28-9 edge in shots on goal and a 14-5 lead in draw controls.
Ursinus returns to action Wednesday, February 25th, when they host Neumann University in their 2026 home opener at 4 p.m.
