UTICA, N.Y. – The Ursinus gymnastics team set a new season-high team score in a 189.800-187.275 victory over Utica University on Sunday afternoon.
The Bears put together a consistent performance across all four events, totaling their highest team score since recording a 190.925 at the NCGA East Regionals last season. Ursinus posted a 48.125 on vault, a season-high 46.825 on bars, a season-best 47.150 on beam and a 47.700 on floor.
Ursinus opened the meet on the bars and produced a new season-high on the event. Junior
Erin Roe led the way with a second-place finish, posting a season team-best of 9.700. Junior
Lucy Warburton followed with a 9.425 to finish fourth, while senior
Brianna Duffy placed sixth with a 9.275. Junior
LeeLee Sanders earned a 9.225 to place seventh, and classmate
Lauren Coleman took eighth with a 9.200.
The Bears moved to the vault and once again set a new team high, continuing steady improvement throughout the season. Roe claimed the event title with a 9.775, her highest score of the year and team's highest mark this season on the vault. Senior
Sidney Schreiber finished second with a season-best 9.725, while sophomore
Michaela Duffy placed fourth with a 9.575. For the second straight week, first-year
Lily Stewart set a new season high, tying for fifth with a 9.550.
On the floor, Ursinus totaled a 47.700, with Schreiber leading the way by winning the event with a 9.775. Warburton finished second among the Bears and fourth overall with a 9.700, while
Michaela Duffy placed fifth with a 9.650. Junior
Arianna Ellis tied for sixth overall with a 9.525. Roe (9.050) and Stewart rounded out the lineup, placing 10th and 12th, respectively.
Ursinus closed the meet on the beam, earning each of the top three marks while outscoring Utica 47.150-45.875. Roe earned her second event victory of the day, setting a new career high with a 9.725. Ellis followed in second with a career-best 9.675, while Warburton placed third with a 9.650.
Michaela Duffy (9.050) and senior
Adrienne Roth (9.050) rounded out the Bears lineup, tying for sixth. Roe won the All-Around for Ursinus, totaling a final tally of 38.250.
The Bears return to action Friday, Feb. 13, when they travel to West Chester University for a tri-meet with the Golden Rams and Towson University.
