COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team rallied to take a 4-3 win over Albright in their first home match of the spring season on Friday afternoon at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
The Bears swept through the doubles matches to take the initial lead in the match. Junior
Noah Dichter and sophomore
Russell Nour defeated Karim Fattal and Enrico Pucci 6-2 at No. 2 doubles and junior
Deniz Finkel and first-year
Bogdan Maksimovic bested Renato Orsi and Leo Russo 6-3 at the No. 1 spot. Junior
Teddy Snyder and first-year
Pierce Rohlfing completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 triumph over Marcelo Menchaca and Esteban Vallejo at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, the Lions began to rally as Dichter dropped a 1-6, 2-6, No. 4 singles match to Menchaca. Snyder was downed 4-6, 3-6 by Orsi at No. 1 singles before Nour lost 4-6, 6-4, 5-7 match to Pucci that left Albright at match point. However, Finkel kept the Bears alive with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Fattal at No. 2 singles and first-year
James Fassbender took down Adam Good 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 singles to tie the match. Senior
Andrei Bogdan delivered in the clutch for the Bears by defeating Russo 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot for the match win and his 50th career collegiate win between singles and doubles play.
Ursinus returns to action tomorrow, March 14th as they will travel to face Lebanon Valley at 4:00 p.m.
