COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Tennis team rolled past DeSales 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Bears improved to 4-3 overall in their first win of the Spring season and the Bulldogs fell to 0-4 overall
Ursinus won all three doubles matches to take the early lead in the match. Senior
Bella Vassalluzzo and junior
Caroline Daly bested Noelle Holderith and Kate Gomez 6-1 at No. 1 doubles before senior
Kate Rubinkam and junior
Morgan Coupe Julia Wiest and Haley Maloney 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore
Katie Yu and first-year
Sara Steelesmith finished the doubles sweep with a 6-1 triumph at the No. 3 spot over Tara Clark and Caroline Prince
The Bears won all six singles matches to finish off the win. Yu downed Wiest 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot and Rubinkam defeated Gomez 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Coupe took down Maloney 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles while Daly suffered the lone loss of the meet at No. 1 singles to Holderith 6-4, 4-6, 6-10. Vassalluzzo rolled past Prince 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Steelesmith defeated Clark 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.
Ursinus returns to action on Friday, March 20th as they will host Drew at 2:30 p.m.
