Softball Claims Split with Elizabethtown Behind Game Two Win

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus softball team split its non-conference doubleheader with Elizabethtown on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.

After the Blue Jays won game one 11-1 in six innings, they initially picked up where they left off by going up 2-0 off a two-run home run in the top of the first. Elizabethtown seemed poised to add to its lead with runners on first and third base before a pair of popups ended the threat. Ursinus responded with three runs off four hits and two errors to go up 3-2 in the bottom of the first. Senior Christa Andrusiewicz led the inning off with a single and came around to score off a double from classmate Kayla Carr. Sophomore Reagan Robinson doubled in Carr to tie the game and first-year Nina Davidson singled in Robinson to make it 3-2. First-year Maddie Rea led the bottom of the second inning off with a double and came around to score three batters later when Robinson singled her in to make it 4-2. Elizabethtown got a run back in the top of the fourth off a sacrifice fly behind a pair of errors after eight straight batters were retired. The Bears put runners on second and third with no outs in the bottom of the fifth and loaded the bases with one out but were unable to push a run across. Carr threw out a Blue Jays runner trying to steal second in the top of the sixth and sophomore pitcher Lucy Wolf retired the final four batters to preserve her complete game win.

Robinson went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored while Carr went 2-for-4 from the plate with an RBI and run scored. Wolf allowed just three runs (two earned) off four hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

The Bears return to action on Saturday, April 4th as they will travel to face Gettysburg for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
