WESTMINSTER, Md. – A dominant third quarter lifted the Ursinus women's lacrosse team to a 15-4 victory over McDaniel College in its season finale on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Ursinus closes the season with an 8-9 record and a 2-5 mark in Centennial Conference play. The Green Terror fall to 6-12 overall and 0-9 in conference action.
Sophomore
Devin Buggy led the Bears' offense, tying her season high with five goals on eight shots to finish the year with 36 goals. Junior
Dana DeSiato added five points on one goal and four assists. She concludes the season as the Centennial Conference leader in assists with 54, averaging 3.18 per game. DeSiato recorded at least one assist in every game and posted three or more assists in 11 contests.
Senior
Ashley Noto rounded out the scoring with three goals, finishing her career with 186 points, which ranks ninth in program history. Defensively, junior
Cait Michalowski recorded a team-high five caused turnovers and five ground balls, tying her career high in ground balls. Her five caused turnovers were one shy of her career best of six, set earlier this season against Neumann. Seniors
Meghan Vizian and
Skyler Bogdan each forced two turnovers, while junior
Grace Olivo added three ground balls.
The opening quarter was a defensive battle as both teams adjusted to the rainy conditions. Vizian broke the scoreless tie with 5:35 remaining, converting on a scoring opportunity for her 13th goal of the season. Later in the period, junior
Whitney Hershey scored her 27th goal with 2:16 left to give Ursinus a 2-0 lead heading into the second quarter, marking her 10th consecutive game with a goal.
The Bears' defense held firm early in the second quarter before Buggy scored off an assist from Bogdan with 9:52 remaining in the half. Following a ground ball by sophomore
Abby Cooney that sparked a fast break, Bogdan found Buggy in front of the crease for a spinning finish and a three-goal advantage. Noto extended the lead to 4-0, but McDaniel answered with two quick goals to cut the deficit to 4-2. Ursinus responded as Bogdan and Noto each scored late in the half to take a 6-2 lead into the break.
Ursinus seized control in the third quarter, outscoring McDaniel 6-0 to build a 12-2 advantage. Buggy netted three straight goals to open the period, pushing the lead to 9-2. Junior
Jaime Michaud assisted on Buggy's first goal of the run, while Bogdan added another assist. Buggy later converted a free-position attempt for her fourth goal of the game. Hershey, Buggy, and Cooney each added goals as the Bears extended their lead to 10. In the fourth quarter, DeSiato, junior Brynn Basitan-Pastore, and Noto each scored to cap the 15-4 victory.
Ursinus held a 29-13 advantage in shots and a 23-13 edge in ground balls, while McDaniel led 12-8 in draw controls. First-year
Addi Guthrie-Pimpinella earned the win in goal, making two saves in 54 minutes. McDaniel's Caleigh Kohr took the loss, recording six saves in 41 minutes.
Ursinus concluded their 2026 season with an 8-9 overall record and a 2-5 mark in Centennial Conference play.
