LANCASTER, Pa. – Behind an impressive offensive showing, Ursinus field hockey senior
Marie Brainard was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday morning.
Brainard totaled nine points to lead Ursinus to a perfect 2-0 week. On Wednesday, Brainard tallied the game's first two goals before earning an assist on the Bears' final tally in a 5-2 victory over DeSales. Against 17th-ranked Lynchburg on Saturday, she scored twice in the first half to give Ursinus a 2-1 victory. She has scored in every game this season for Ursinus and leads the Centennial with three game-winning goals.
This marks the first time Brainard has received a weekly honor from the Centennial. It is the second time this season the Bears have been awarded the honor as first-year goalie
Elise Martin received Defensive Player of the Week honors on September 9th. The Wilmington, Delaware native ranks second in the Centennial Conference in goals (6), shots on goal (19), and points (13).
The Bears will return to action on Wednesday, September 16th as they host No. 9 Messiah University at 7 p.m. from the Snell Field Hockey Field.
