LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus football junior defensive back Andy Zigbuo was named the first Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week of the 2026 season, announced on Sunday morning by the Conference.
 
 
Zigbuo had two interceptions and played a big role in the Bears 17-14 season-opening win over Delaware Valley on Friday night. It was the first multi-interception game of his career and he added three solo tackles as well. Both of his interceptions stopped Aggies drives that made it into Bears territory, with one coming in the end zone.
 
 
They were the first two interceptions of his collegiate career after initially getting into the Bears starting lineup last season as one of the starting cornerbacks.
 
 
This is the first time in his career that Zigbuo has earned a weekly award from the Conference and he is the first Bear since Nick Strusowski in September 2025 to earn a weekly Centennial accolade.
 
 
The Bears return to action on Saturday, September 12^th as they will travel to face Waynesburg at 12:00 p.m.
