STOCKTON, N.J. - The Ursinus men's soccer team fought hard and ended up tying Stockton University in a defensive clash 1-1 on Saturday evening at Larry James Stadium.
 
With the tie, Ursinus sits at 1-1-1 on the year, after beating Rutgers-Camden the night prior. Stockton, on the other hand, is now 0-2-1.
 
Ursinus carried over their energy from the previous game, once again getting out to an early lead over their opponent. First-year Joseph Kmetz knocked in his second career goal, less than 24 hours after scoring his first, in the 17th minute. First-year JohnPaul Fernandez delivered the assist. On the play, Fernandez received a long pass into the box and sent a pass to the opposite side finding Kmetz for a one-timer to give Ursinus an early 1-0 lead.
 
The Ospreys responded well, nevertheless. Multiple shot opportunities led to a goal by first-year Cooper Adolfini, working the ball inside for the score. Assists were credited to Aiden Hoenisch and midfielder Demier Tossie.
 
Very few shots were taken by either side in the second half, as both defenses battled. The Bears had just four shots, and the Ospreys three, with neither side able to convert their chances. After an exciting last two minutes, including a shot by Ursinus sophomore Jahsen Cole, and a goal kick by Stockton, the game ended in a tie.
 
Stockton held a 9-5 shot advantage, as well as a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. They also had five corner kicks, compared to Ursinus's three. Senior goalie Josiah Moore finished the game with four saves, while Osprey's goalie Dan Raivitch had one.
 
Ursinus will travel to Glassboro, New Jersey on Wednesday, September 9th, to take on Rowan University at 7:00 p.m. Stockton will face Drew University at home also on the 9th, at 7:30 p.m.
