Toby has over 31 years of successful experience in higher education, including University roles as Chief of Staff for the President, Director of Athletics, Associate Director of Athletics, Assistant Director of Athletics for Business Services & Internal Operations, as well as NCAA Division I and Division III Head Women’s Soccer Coach and Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach.
A 1985 graduate of The University of Scranton, Toby was a three-year starter at stopper back on the men’s soccer team, reaching two NCAA Final Fours and winning two Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. He is a two-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference First-team selection and was inducted into the Scranton Athletic Wall of Fame in 2008. Toby is also a two-time Athletic Hall of Fame inductee at Notre Dame High School in East Stroudsburg, PA.
He was instrumental in advancing Bucknell University’s women’s club soccer program to NCAA Division I varsity status, achieving accolades as Patriot League regular season undefeated champions and Coaching Staff of the Year in 1995. He also recruited & coached an All-American, a Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year & Rookie of the Year, and numerous Academic & Athletic All-League players. Additionally, Toby served as Interim Head Women’s Soccer Coach at The University of Scranton in 2007. He led that team to both regular-season and post-season Landmark Conference championships and earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors. Two athletes earned Conference Defensive player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.
Toby holds a Master of Education in Sports Management from Temple University and completed the Sports Management Institute Executive Program at both The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and The University of Southern California. He and his wife, Cathy, reside in West Conshohocken. They are the parents of two children: Matthew and Lydia.
