Lovato enters her first season as an assistant coach of the Ursinus softball team. Lovato will focus on pitchers, pitching live batting practice and assisting with defense after spending many years based in Spain and France. Recently, Lovato was working with teams in the Basque region of Spain in addition to the Basque and French Riviera regions of France pre- and post-Covid.

Lovato was last involved with athletics in the US was at California State University, Monterey Bay (2014-15) as an assistant to compliance and athletic administration upon completing her Master of Coaching and Athletic Administration at Concordia University of Irvine (2014).

Lovato spend six seasons (2006-11) at Moorpark College as a head coach 2006-09 and assistant 2010-11. Lovato spent her first three season struggling with player injuries and ineligibility to combine a record of 48-80 before recruiting a heavy 2009 class. She led the 2009 team to a Conference Championship with an overall record of 32-14 and was named conference Coach of the Year. Previously, 2003-04 Lovato was the inaugural head coach at Los Angeles Mission College creating the first ever softball program in 2003 finishing with a record 16-21-1 and improving to 19-16-1 in 2004 while winning the last 8 of 9 games.

Lovato began her coaching career at her alma mater Royal High School in Simi Valley 2001-02 and quickly brought the losing program into a winning program. In 2002, her second year, the team was league Co-champions, CIF Quarterfinalists and Lovato was named League and Ventura County Coach of the Year. The 2002 team made an appearance in the top 25 national rankings.

Lovato originates from Ventura County in southern California and was an all-league player for Royal High School while graduating at 16 years old. Lovato continued her career at Div I California State University of Sacramento which includes a stellar senior year (1.48 ERA, 17-10, 12 shut-outs, 193.1 IP, 154Ks, opp batting ave .203), named Pitcher of the Week for Big West Conference 4x, selected all-Big West, and remains in the top 10 in several pitching categories for a single season and career while only playing two years.

During many summers, Lovato has squeezed in playing professionally mostly in Europe from 2000-21 in Italy (2000), Spain (‘03 and European Cup, ‘04 and European Cup, ’05,’12 Pitcher of the Year & Spanish Champions, ‘18), Czech Rep (’05), Netherlands (’08), Puerto Rico (‘09 MVP, ‘10), Austria (’10 and European Cup) and France (’20, ’21). Lovato has pitched against Team China, Team Chinese Taipei, Team Italy, and Team USA during their pre-Olympic tours of 1996 and 2000. Lovato was a regular live batting practice pitcher to Jessica Mendoza and Sam Fischer with guest batting practice appearances from Natasha Watley, Stacey Nuveman, and Laura Berg.
