COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's tennis
team closed its Centennial Conference slate with a 6-3 win over
McDaniel on Friday afternoon.
The Bears won all three doubles matches and took three singles
matches to improve to 8-11, 1-8 in the conference.
In singles play, freshman Chris Wyshock (Montoursville,
Pa./Loyalsock Township) defeated Steve French at number three
flight, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, followed by a 6-2, 6-3 win at number five
flight for senior Jason Zerbe (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) over Aaron
Waltemeyer.
At number six flight, senior Josh Hollaman (Stratford,
Conn./Bunnell) defeated Luke Schmidt, 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles play, senior Bennett MacLaughlin (Gaithersburg,
Md./Bullis School) and freshman Sean Kelley (Hershey, Pa./Hershey)
defeated Ben Faber and Dan Hovorka at number one flight, 8-6.
At number two flight, junior Kevin Dean (Vernon, N.J./Vernon
Township) and junior Greg Lewis (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers
Academy) defeated French and Justin Ward, 8-1. Finally, at number
three flight, Zerbe and Hollaman defeated Schmidt and Tim Foley,
8-2.
Ursinus hosts Stevenson tomorrow at 1.
