Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Ursinus College men's tennis team suffered a 8-1 loss to regionally-ranked Washington College on Wednesday afternoon, falling to 9-6 on the season.
The Bears gave the Shoremen (6-3) a battle in two of the three doubles matches as freshman Evan Stutchin (Cape Coral, Fla./Canterbury School) and freshman Evan Lord (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) lost their number one doubles match to Kevin Papen and Aaron Ellison, 9-7, while freshman Matt Hope (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson) and freshman Brent Stevenson (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) lost their match at number two flight, 9-7, to Nicolas Campisi and Marc Cywinski.
In singles play, Lord picked up the lone point as he defeated Cywinski, 3-6, 6-1, 10-8. At number five flight singles, sophomore Chris Wyshock (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock Township) sent his match to three sets as he lost to Joel Novick, 6-1, 4-6, 11-9.
Ursinus hosts Gettysburg Saturday.
