Men's Tennis battles Swarthmore in early CC test

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's tennis team opened its spring home slate on Thursday afternoon by hosting Swarthmore.

The Bears looked  to take the match from the Garnet, winning third doubles early in the match. Before Swarthmore (3-4, 1-0 Centennial) rallied to win the two other doubles match in a 7-2 victory over the Bears (7-2, 0-1 Centennial).

Sophomore Tyler Arsenault and senior Dylan Marsh defeated Harrison Lands and Irving Stone at number three flight doubles by an 8-3 score. The team of senior Evan Stutchin and senior Matt Hope at number one flight lost to Anthony Collard and Thomas Vernier, 8-6, while the team of senior Evan Lord and senior Logan Metcalf-Kelly dropped their number two flight match to Dan Park and Christian Carcione by the same score.

In singles competition, Metcalf-Kelly defeated Carcione at number five flight, 7-6 (6-4), 6-2.

Ursinus will take on Penn State Berks and Alvernia on Saturday.
