COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Volleyball team earned a straight set 3-0 sweep (25-16, 29-27, 25-15) over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference action on Wednesday night at Helfferich Hall.
With the win, the Bears improved to 12-5 overall and 2-3 in Centennial Conference play. The 12 wins are the most in a season for Ursinus since the 2011 season. Meanwhile, the Owls fell to 6-11 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

Katie Cressman led the way with a game-high 18 kills and a .306 hitting percentage. It was the 11-straight game Cressman has recorded double-digit kills and the seventh time she tallied a kill-dig double-double after posting 10 digs. Sophomore
Caroline Sherman added nine kills and a team-high .389 hitting percentage while a trio of Bears each posted four kills. Sophomore
Rachel Bernard paced the Bears offense with 19 assists and tallied seven digs.
Bryn Mawr surprised the Bears in the first set by jumping out to an early 6-2 lead, but Ursinus worked their way back by winning 10 of the next 12 points to go up 12-8. The Owls tallied back-to-back points to pull within two at 12-10 until the Bears pulled away by winning eight-straight points to go up 20-10. Five of the eight points in the run came from kills. Bryn Mawr made a small late rally at the end of the set with three-straight points before Ursinus closed the set out with points from a Cressman kill and an ace from first-year
Erin Dychdala.
The Owls once again gained the early upper hand in the second set by going up 4-1 behind three Bear errors. Ursinus won four of the next five points behind four kills to tie the set at five, but the Owls countered by taking five of the next six points to go up 10-6. Ursinus pulled within one again with three-straight points before Bryn Mawr struck back again with three-straight points of their own to go up 13-9. Ursinus seemingly gained control of the set by winning nine of the next 11 points to take an 18-15 lead, but the Owls pulled back within one point at 19-18 after another run. Ursinus worked its way out to a 22-19 advantage until the Owls won five-straight points to put themselves at set point, 24-22. Following a Bears timeout, Ursinus won back-to-back points to force extras and staved off two more set points to win the second set at 29-27.
It was the Bears that got the early lead in the third set as they went up 3-1. However, the Owls refused to go away as they tied the set back up at four behind a pair of errors from the Bears. Ursinus jumped back out to an 9-6 advantage before Bryn Mawr won six of the next eight points to take their first lead of the set at 12-11. The Bears jumped back out in front by taking four of the next five points to go up 15-13 and put the match away by winning 10 of the last 11 points following a point from the Owls.
The Bears hit .282 as a team after posting a .452 hitting percentage in the third set. Zoe Boxill tallied a team-high five kills and nine digs for the Owls while Anna Dravk paced the offense with 14 assists.
Ursinus returns right back to action tomorrow, October 13th as they will face Immaculata in non-conference action at 7 p.m.
