COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Field Hockey team suffered a 4-0 loss to No. 8 Johns Hopkins in Centennial Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Bears fall to 5-6 overall on the season and 2-2 in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays improved to 9-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Johns Hopkins put Bears senior goalkeeper
Jordan Ulsh to the test early by getting three shots off in the first five minutes, all of which were turned away by Ulsh. Johns Hopkins continued to keep pressure on the Bears in the first quarter as they had two back-to-back decent shots in the ninth minute stopped by Ulsh. However, the Blue Jays finally broke through with a quick strike off a penalty corner in the 11th minute to go up 1-0. Senior
Jordan Moore registered the first shot for the Bears with just over minute left in the first quarter off a corner that was stopped by the Blue Jays goalkeeper. Midfield action ruled the second quarter as each team had one shot apiece. Moore had the Bears lone shot blocked off a penalty corner chance.

Lauren Weaver had a decent look from a penalty corner saved in the opening two minutes of the third quarter. The Blue Jays took advantage of the save and extended their lead to 2-0 in the 33rd minute. Ursinus outshot the Blue Jays 4-2 in the third quarter but were unable to cut into the deficit. Johns Hopkins added two more goals in the fourth quarter to lock up the win.
The Blue Jays held a 19-7 shot advantage for the game and a 15-4 edge in shots on goal. Each team was awarded seven penalty corners. Ulsh suffered the loss after making 11 saves during the full 60 minutes. A trio of Bleu Jays goalkeepers saw action with Phoebe Williams earning the win after playing the entire first quarter and made one save. Alexis Loder played the most minutes in net with 30 and tallied three saves for Johns Hopkins. Abby Birk paced the Hopkins offense with two goals.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, October 12th as they will host Bryn Mawr at 7 p.m.
