Men's Tennis Earns 6-3 Win Over Otterbein

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus men's tennis team bounced back with a 6-3 win over Otterbein on Tuesday morning at the USTA Campus.

 

With the win, the Bears improved to 2-2 overall as they completed their second day of competition on their Florida spring break trip. Meanwhile, the Cardinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) fell to 3-4 overall.

 

Ursinus made a big statement by going up 3-0 in the match after taking all three doubles matches. Sophomores Lars Jespersen and Will Oberholtzer defeated the duo of Jake McDivitt and Tom Ohler 8-3 at the No. 1 spot before the duo of Darby Rogers and Rob Ritchie took down Gabriel Atteh and Boban Mihajlov 8-5 at the No. 2 spot. Junior Noah Mandel and sophomore Ethan Yu finished off the doubles with an 8-5 triumph over Armado DiMichaelangelo and Dylan Shook at No. 3 doubles.

 

The Cardinals rallied to win the No. 1 through No. 3 singles points to even the match at three before the Bears closed out the win by taking points 4-6. McDivitt defeated Jespersen 7-5 at the No. 1 spot and Atteh edged Oberholtzer 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 in a tiebreaker at the No. 2 spot. Ohler bested Ritchie at the No. 3 spot 7-6, 6-0 and Rogers took down Shook 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot. Mandel defeated Mihajlov 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles spot and Yu finished the match by winning 6-2, 6-0 over Nate Stevens.

 

The Bears will return to action on Thursday, March 10th as they will conclude their spring break trip by taking on Ohio Wesleyan at 11:30 a.m.
