READING, Pa. – The No. 17 Ursinus field hockey team was defeated 3-0 on the road by Albright on Wednesday night in non-conference action.

Gigi Testa Had another decent look in the eighth minute before having her shot turned away. Ursinus had two decent looks at the net saved in the 17th minute, one coming from a penalty corner opportunity. However, the tide began to turn in the 24th minute as the Lions stunned the Bears by converting off the second of two-straight penalty corners to go up 1-0.
Each team traded a pair of shots on the net in the third quarter and Albright added to its lead after being awarded a penalty stroke in the 41st minute. Albright used momentum from the penalty stroke goal by controlling play at the end of the quarter and got two shots off on the cage. The Lions took advantage of another penalty corner in the opening minute of the fourth quarter and scored to make it 3-0. The Bears made a push late by recording six shots in the final quarter but were unable to get the ball past the Lions goalkeeper.
The Bears outshot the Lions 17-13 behind holding a 6-1 advantage in the fourth quarter and each team recorded 10 shots on the cage. Ursinus also held a slight 11-9 edge in penalty corners after gaining six in the final quarter. Sophomore goalkeeper
Makayla Baessler suffered the loss in her second career collegiate start after making seven saves. Albright goalkeeper Veronica Heckman made 10 saves in a valiant effort to earn the win.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, September 17th as they will travel to face Catholic at 5:30 p.m.
