BRYN MAWR, PA. – The Ursinus College women's soccer earned their third shutout of the season, blanking Centennial Conference foe Bryn Mawr, 2-0 on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Bears improved to 3-2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Owls fell to 0-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference action.
Bryn Mawr earned the first shot of the afternoon as Jessica Johnson's shot missed wide in the 7
th minute. The Bears answered and jumped on the board first in the 20
th minute as senior
Morgan Raley blasted a shot from about 35 yards out for her third goal of the season. Bryn Mawr's goalkeeper Natalia Chorzepa had a chance for a save but the shot bounced off her gloves and into the back of the net.
In the 34
th minute, junior
Izzy Allocco fired two shots into the Owls defense, but each opportunity missed wide of the net. Ursinus held a 5-2 advantage in shots at halftime while holding a slight 2-1 edge in corner kick opportunities.
The Bears almost capitalized on a set piece early in the second half as a free kick opportunity from midfield found
Alex Chalmers behind the Owls defense. Chalmers sent a shot that was deflected by Bryn Mawr's Emma Ryan finding an Ursinus forward. The side referee signaled for an offside negating the opportunity.
In the 75
th minute after being awarded a corner kick, Ursinus added an insurance goal when a cross from
Hannah Brainsky found the head of
Zoe Moosbrugger in front of the net. Moosbrugger's header sizzled past the Owls and into the top left corner of the net.
Junior goalkeeper
Kaela Frenchman and the defense stepped up in the second half locking down the Owls offense, resulting in their third shutout of the season. Frenchman earned the victory in net, picking up her third victory on the season. Meanwhile for the Owls, Natalia Chorzepa and Emma Ryan split time in net combining for two saves. The Bears possessed the ball for much of the contest holding a slight 11-3 advantage in shots, while Bryn Mawr held a 4-3 edge in corner kick opportunities.

th as they travel to Carlisle, Pennsylvania for a Centennial Conference matchup with the Dickinson Red Devils starting at 3:30pm.
