Women's Soccer Suffers Setback at Dickinson

CARLISLE, PA. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback to Centennial Conference foe Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon from Miller Memorial Field.
 
With the loss, the Bears fell to 3-3-1 overall and 1-2 in Centennial Conference action, while the Red Devils improved to 4-3-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in conference play.
 
The Bears earned the first opportunity of the match in the fourth minute, as Alex Chalmers low shot was saved by Dickinson's Sophia Kavulich. The Red Devils defense was tested moments later after a corner kick, Izzy Dalesandro fired a shot on net saved by Kavulich. Dickinson answered in the 26th minute, as Meg Tate notched the first goal of the game after an assist from Emily Dunkel. The Red Devils executed a perfect corner kick as Dunkel sent a high arching cross into the box finding Tate for a header in front of the net.
 
Dickinson stretched their lead to 2-0 just four minutes before halftime, as Allie Charnas found Ellie Nordwind in the 41st minute. Charnas created a two on one opportunity and a pass across the box found Nordwind near the left post for her first goal of the season. In the second half, the Red Devils carried the momentum into the opening minutes as Tate scored her second goal of the contest to make the score 3-0. Ursinus amped up the offensive pressure in the second half with their best opportunity coming from Olivia Losurdo in the 72nd minute. Losurdo sent a low shot on net, but a save from Kavulich kept the Bears off the board.
 
The Red Devils held a 10-4 advantage in shots while holding a slight 6-3 edge in corner kick opportunities. Dickinson's Sophia Kavulich earned the win in net collecting four saves and earning the shutout while Bears' junior goalkeeper Kaela Frenchman collected six saves.
 
The Bears will return to action on Wednesday, September 28th as they host King's College in a non-conference matchup from Patterson Field at 7:30pm.
