GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's volleyball team battled, but eventually fell to Gettysburg College 3-1(12-25, 25-18, 21-25, 16-25) on Saturday afternoon from Bream Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Bears move to 9-13 overall and 1-6 in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Bullets improved to 19-4 on the season and 6-1 in conference play.

Caroline Sherman paced the Bears offense with a team-high 11 kills, while first-year
Mel Eglinton was one kill shy of a double-double behind nine kills and 11 digs. Junior
Rachel Bernard tallied a game-high 21 assists with first-year
Daejah Bazemore finishing with nine kills and a team-high three blocks.
The Bears took an early 4-1 advantage in the opening set behind an ace from Bernard and Sherman's first kill of the match. The Bullets bounced back winning eight consecutive points, before Sherman's second kill halted the Gettysburg run. Gettysburg stretched their lead to 11 midways through the opening set, capitalizing on three Ursinus attack errors to extend their lead to 19-8. Senior
Gabby McGinn and Eglinton each recorded kills, but Gettysburg took the opening set 25-12.
The Bullets carried the momentum into the early stages of the second set jumping out to a 6-2 lead, before three consecutive points from the Bears cut the deficit to one. With Gettysburg leading 8-6, Ursinus strung four consecutive points to retake a 10-8 lead. The 4-0 Bears run started with a Sherman ace, while Bazemore and Eglinton each added kills to give Ursinus their second lead of the set. Haley Spotts and ace from Bernard. With the momentum, the Bears rallied with eight of their final ten points coming from kills by McGinn, Bazemore, Eglinton, and Spotts resulting in a 25-18 set victory. Junior

Erin Dychdala, and Bernard each recorded assists over the Bears run to close out the set.
In the third set, Gettysburg controlled the momentum early on jumping out to a 7-2 lead. The Bears responded by winning six of the next seven points to tie the match at eight a piece. Dychdala collected an ace during the run and assisted Sherman on back-to-back kills to tie the set. After four consecutive points from the Bullets, Ursinus used a 3-0 run to cut their deficit to one midway through the set. With Gettysburg leading 12-11, the Bullets used a 7-3 run to extend their lead to 20-14. The Bears quickly bounced back behind a 7-0 run to capture their first lead of the set, 21-20. Maci Dobbins-Timochenko earned her first kill of the match. Gettysburg would close out the set behind a 5-0 run and taking a 2-1 match lead after a 25-21 set victory.
In the final set, Ursinus jumped out to an early 6-3 lead after Eglinton, McGinn, and Spotts each recorded kills. An 8-0 run from Gettysburg would allow the Bullets to recapture a 12-6 lead, before a kill from Sherman halted the run. The Bears would cut their deficit to five on three separate occasions but could not overcome the deficit falling in the final stanza 25-16. Gettysburg's Kylie Ulrich finished with a game-high 14 kills and five blocks, while teammate Chelseas O'Leary led the Bullets with 18 digs.
