COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's soccer team took an early lead in the first half and eventually fell 4-1 to Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon.

Tommy Mollis,
Kai Haynes, and
Sam Houser were recognized prior to the game for their dedication and commitment to the Men's Soccer Program.
Each team traded scoring opportunities to start the contest as each goalkeeper stood tall denying each chance. At the 10-minute mark, Dickinson was awarded a free kick just outside the box, but the curling pass from their forward was headed away by the Bears back line. Mollis nearly tallied the opening goal of the contest at the 12:42-mark as he cut through the Red Devils defense before firing a shot that was turned away by a diving save from Dickinson's goalkeeper Nick Potter. Sevag Yepoyan was dragged down outside the box resulting in a free kick for the Bears. Mollis stepped up and delivered a curling line drive shot past the Dickinson defense and into the back of the net to give Ursinus the early 1-0 advantage. The Red Devils nearly found the equalizer during the 15
th minute as a shot from Dickinson's Chaz Smith snuck past senior
Zach Matik in goal, but a sliding defensive save from first-year defender
Mathias Stegner kept the one-goal advantage.
The Bears earned back-to-back corner kick opportunities during the 28
th minute, but each opportunity was turned away by the Red Devils defense. Dickinson responded with a shot during the 30
th minute, but on the backline Stegner deflected the shot out of danger. The Red Devils offense broke though at the 36:55-mark, as a throw into the box, found Dickinson's Tyson Burling whose shot deflected off the crossbar. The rebound found teammate Jackson Wolf whose shot found the back of the net to tie the contest at one apiece. Moments later, Dickinson added a second goal as a through ball found Saul Iwowo past the Bears defense and his finesse shot went over the head of the charging Matik and into the back of the net for the 2-1 advantage.
Dickinson increased their lead to two at the 50:53-mark as a swing pass from Geoffrey Ogenrwot found teammate Ethan Jarden on the far post and he snuck his shot into the back of the net to make the score 3-1. Two minutes later, Dickinson was awarded a penalty kick and capitalized on the opportunity as a right footed shot from Saul Iwowo increased the Red Devils lead to three. Ursinus recorded a few more chances later in the second half but eventually by a score of 4-1.
The Red Devils held a 27-8 advantage in shots with Ursinus holding a 6-4 edge in corner kick opportunities. Dickinson's goalkeeper Nick Potter earned the victory in goal after recording three saves over 90 minutes, while Matik was dealt the loss behind six saves in 59 minutes of play.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Allentown, Pennsylvania for a non-conference matchup against Moravian College.
