Men's Basketball Defeated by No. 15 Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Basketball team was downed 82-66 by No. 15 Swarthmore on Wednesday night in Centennial Conference action.
 
 
Senior Trevor Wall led the Bears with a game-high 24 points behind going 8-of-15 from the field while posting three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Senior Beau Everett and sophomore Nick Nocito posted 10 points apiece for Ursinus as well.
 
 
Swarthmore scored the first eight points of the contest and stretched its lead to 15-3 at the 15:22-mark of the first half. Ursinus would get within six points after using an 8-2 burst to bring the score to 17-11 with 11:46 left in the first quarter. A layup from sophomore Mohamed Toure cut the Garnet lead down to 19-13 at the 8:27-mark of the first half before Swarthmore used a run of 10-straight points to go up 29-16 at the 4:06-mark. The Bears pulled within 10 points at 32-22 but would get no closer in the first half as Swarthmore held a 37-23 lead into the break. The Garnet started hot to start the second half as they opened on a 12-5 run before eventually leading by 27 points at one point. Ursinus ultimately could not overcome the early run and was only able to get within 15 points the rest of the way.
 
 
The Bears shot 42.6 percent (23-of-54) from the field and went a solid 86.4 percent (19-of-22) from the free throw line. Swarthmore shot 40.3 percent (27-of-67) from the field and 42.3 percent (11-of-26) from three-point range. The Garnet went 17-of-25 (68%) from the free throw line and held a sizable 46-32 edge in rebounds.
 
 
Ursinus will return to action on Wednesday, December 20th as they will open the Cruzin Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida against Ohio Northern at 1:00 p.m.
