Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

No. 17 Men's Lacrosse Bested by No. 8 Gettysburg, 14-10

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The No. 17 Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team dropped a 14-10 contest to Gettysburg to open Centennial Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Dominic Nottoli shocked the Bullets right off the start as he won the opening faceoff and scored just seven seconds into the game to put the Bears up 1-0. Senior Erik Ojert continued the early Ursinus momentum by scoring in the opening minute after another faceoff win to make it a 2-0 game. However, the Bullets scored six-straight goals over a 10-minute span to go up 6-2. Senior Tyler Falco ended the Bullets run to open the second quarter, but Gettysburg answered the goal at the 8:25-mark to go up 7-3. Senior Tyler Neal netted his first goal of the game at the 2:51-mark to cut the Gettysburg lead down to 7-4 before the Bullets countered once again with a goal and took an 8-4 lead into the half.

Sophomore Christopher Pucciarelli got the second half scoring going at the 13:14-mark to make it an 8-5 game. Once again, the Bullets had an answer with a goal of their own at the 11:25-mark and responded to a second Pucciarelli goal with a pair to make it 11-6 at the 1:26-mark. Neal beat the horn to end the third quarter to bring the Bears within four at 11-7. Senior Tyler Falco cashed in on a man-up opportunity at the 11:36-mark of the fourth quarter to make it an 11-8 game before Gettysburg ended a potential Bears rally at the 9:16-mark with a goal to extend their lead back to four at 12-8. Falco again cashed on a man-up chance at the 7:33-mark only to be countered a minute and a half later by the Bullets.

Gettysburg held a 52-39 edge in shots and 33-17 advantage in shots on goal. The Bullets held a 31-23 edge in ground balls and a slight 15-12 advantage in faceoff wins. Sophomore Jonathan Singer made 19 saves in net for the Bears. Neal and Falco each posted four points behind three goals and one assist.

The Bears return to action on Saturday, April 1st as they will host McDaniel at 12:00 p.m.
