COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The No. 19 Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team suffered a 14-9 setback to Haverford on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference play at Patterson Field.
The Bears started fast as senior
Erik Ojert scored 36 seconds into the game to give the Bears the initial lead. Junior
Drake Kasoff netted his first collegiate goal at the 10:02-mark of the first quarter off a rebound before senior
Tyler Neal made it 3-0 at the 7:31-mark with his first goal of the day. However, the tide began to turn as the Fords scored five-straight goals to go up 5-3 at the 6:14-mark of the second quarter while holding the Bears without a goal for a span of just over 18 minutes in the game. Sophomore
Christopher Pucciarelli ended the run at the 4:04-mark of the second quarter and senior
Jeremy Calabro followed quickly with a man-up goal to tie the game at five into the half.
The teams traded a pair of goals to open the second half and left the score at 7-all at the 7:29-mark of the third quarter. Haverford scored the final three goals of the quarter to go up 10-7 and did not let their lead slip below two goals for the remainder of the game.
Ursinus held a 53-32 shot advantage for the game but just a 26-22 edge in shots on goal. The Bears held a slight 31-29 edge in ground balls and a 12-11 advantage in face off wins. Bears junior goalkeeper
Jonathan Singer suffered the loss after making eight saves and allowing 14 goals in the full 60 minutes. Jacob Abraham earned the win for Haverford with a valiant 17-save effort while allowing nine goals in the 60 minutes of the game.
Ursinus returns to action on Wednesday, April 12th as they will travel to Muhlenberg for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
