Women's Soccer Downed by Lebanon Valley, 1-0

ANNVILLE, Pa. – A goal in the second half proved to be the difference as the Ursinus College women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday afternoon from Herbert Field.

With the defeat Ursinus falls to 3-2 on the season, meanwhile the Dutchmen improved to 1-1-1 overall.

The Dutchmen earned the first two scoring opportunities throughout the opening minutes of the match, but each chance was denied by the Bears defense and senior netminder Maddie Nau. During the first scoring chance, a through ball left Nau and the Dutchmen attacker one-on-one. Lebanon Valley's Sierra Young fired the shot to the right of the Bears goalkeeper whose quick reaction denied the scoring chance. The Bears responded with a shot at the 23:45-mark, as junior Grace Senese sent a well touched through ball past the Dutchmen defense finding sophomore Kalli Roskos whose one-timer shot missed high of the net. During the 34th minute, Nau and the Bears defense were credited with their third save of the first half to keep the match scoreless. Ursinus earned back-to-back corner kick opportunities during the 36th minute but were turned away during both chances. The Bears recorded the final shot of the first half as sophomore Adriana Careless had her opportunity denied by the Dutchmen defense.

After the halftime adjustments, Lebanon Valley jumped on the board first during the 57th minute after a goal from Abrielle Miller to take a 1-0 lead. Ursinus picked up the offensive pressure recording three separate shots over the next four minutes of play, but each missed target keeping the deficit at one. At the 75:35-mark, senior Ciara Rago sent a shot on goal, but Lebanon's Valley Jocelyn Umana was credited with the save. Careless sent back-to-back shots on goal during the 84th and 87th minute, but each were turned away by the Dutchmen defense. First-year Gwyn Krystkiewicz recorded the final shot of the contest towards the bottom center of the net as Umana grabbed her fifth save of the game to give Lebanon Valley 1-0 decision.
