COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Behind a huge first half, the Ursinus Women's Soccer team rolled to a 5-0 win over Eastern on Tuesday night in non-conference action at Patterson Field.
With the win, the Bears improved to 4-3-2 overall and their third win in three seasons over Eastern. Meanwhile, the Eagles fell to 1-4-2 overall.
Ursinus put a trio of shots on the net in the first half before finally breaking through to start their big night when first-year
Madison Bjorndahl scored in the 17th minute. It was her second-straight game with a goal, and she knocked in a rebound off a free kick shot by senior
Izzy Allocco. Junior
Grace Senese was awarded a penalty kick in the 24 minute after sophomore
Kalli Roskos was fouled in the box by the Eastern goalkeeper. Senese just lifted the ball over the diving Eagle goalkeeper on the left side and put the Bears up 2-0. Senese added another just three minutes later when she rocketed a shot into the net from 10 yards out after a favorable bounce from a corner kick. Senior
Alex Chalmers made it a 4-0 game in the 37th minute with her first goal of the season after sneaking a ball to the lower right side of the net.
The Bears continued to control play throughout the second half and put the finishing touches on the contest in the 63rd minute when sophomore Alicia Paige scored her first collegiate goal to make it 5-0. Senior
Carly Henning initially sent a shot off the crossbar that bounced back over to first-year
Holly Joseph. Joseph found Paige open, and she poked the ball to an open right side of the net. The five goals were the most for the Bears in a single game since scoring five against Keystone in the 2019 season opener.
Ursinus held a sizable 18-8 shot advantage for the game behind a 12-1 edge in the first half. The Bears held an advantage of 12-3 in shots on goal and each team was awarded four corner kicks. Ursinus senior goalkeeper
Maddie Nau earned the win after starting the first 45 minutes and did not face a single shot on goal. Senior

Eastern goalkeeper Brooke Moskey suffered the loss after making five saves and allowing four goals in the first half. Senese led the way with two goals while Allocco added two assists for the Bears.
