Men's Soccer Downed by No. 6 Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. – A four-goal first half was the difference maker as the Ursinus College men's soccer team fell against No. 6 Dickinson College, 5-0, on Saturday evening from Memorial Field.
 

With the loss, Ursinus falls to 7-6-2 overall and 1-6-1 in Centennial Conference action, while the Red Devils improved to 13-1-3 on the season and 4-1-3 in conference play.
 
 
The Red Devils quickly jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as 19 seconds into the contest Ethan Jarden found Saul Iwowo for the go-ahead score putting Dickinson ahead by one. After a Bears turnover in the midfield, a counterattack ensued for Dickinson as a ball was played into the box and tipped past the Bears defense for the score. Ursinus responded with a shot of their own during the 11th minute as sophomore Declan Curran missed high of the goal to keep the Bears deficit at one. Just three minutes later, Dickinson added to their advantage as Jarden recorded his second assist after finding Timi Omoniwa for the score. Dickinson added a goal at the 26:23-mark as Daniel Spataro tallied a score to increase the Red Devils lead to 3-0 with 19:37 remaining in the opening half. During the 34th minute, Dickinson added their fourth goal of the contest and the second of the game from Iwowo to gain control of the match enroute to the 4-0 halftime lead. With under a minute remaining in the half, sophomore Simon Muther recorded a shot, but his opportunity missed wide heading into the halftime break.  Ursinus amped up the pressure in the second half, including three corner kick chances, but came away empty handed as the Devils earned the 5-0 Centennial Conference victory.
 
 
Dickinson held a 17-5 advantage in shots, an 8-0 lead in shots on goal, with the Bears holding a 5-3 edge in corner kick opportunities. In goal, senior netminder Zach Matik suffered the loss recording three saves, while Dickinson's Aidan George collected the shutout victory.
 
 
The Bears return to action on Tuesday, October 29th as they host Moravian University for a 7:30 p.m. start from Patterson Field. Ursinus will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday as they host Gettysburg College at 3 p.m.
