COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's soccer team nearly found the equalizer in the second half, but unfortunately fell, 1-0, against Washington College on Saturday afternoon from Patterson Field.
With the loss, Ursinus falls to 6-4-1 overall and 0-4 in Centennial Conference play. Meanwhile, the Shoremen improved to 5-2-4 on the season and 2-1-1 in conference play.
Washington College struck first during the 11th minute as a cross from the corner went through the defense and found Yasir German along the far post. German corralled the pass and fired a left-footed that deflected off a Bears defender and into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. The Shoremen continued the offensive pressure over the next seven minutes of play as back-to-back shots on goal were denied by the Bear defense and sophomore netminder
Josiah Moore. At the 27:56-mark, junior midfielder
Enver Desic tallied the Bears' first shot as he missed high keeping the Bears deficit at one. With under a minute remaining in the half, Ursinus nearly found the equalizer as a throw in from deep in the Shoremen defensive end, but the Bears shot was saved resulting in a 1-0 halftime deficit.
Ursinus earned the first two scoring opportunities of the second half as seniors

Patrick Tormey had their chances saved by Washington College's Anthony Pinto. Ursinus continued to pressure the Shoremen defense in the second half, including a shot off the post but were unable to find the tying goal falling to Washington College 1-0.
Ursinus held an 11-8 advantage in shots, a 7-6 edge in shots on goal, while the Shoremen earned a 3-2 lead in corner kick opportunities. Moore suffered the loss in goal for the Bears behind five saves over 90 minutes of action, while Pinto earned the victory collecting seven saves.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, October 12th as they travel to Swarthmore, Pennsylvania for a Centennial Conference matchup against Swarthmore College at 7 p.m.
