COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team hosted its annual Bow Tie Invitational at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center on Saturday to finish off a split squad opening weekend.
The Bears saw three athletes win their respective events at the meet as they completed their opening weekend of the indoor season.
Sophomore
Sam Wechsler led a 1-2 Ursinus finish in the 60-meter hurdles after recording a time of 9.57 meters in the finals after posting a time of 9.48 in the prelims. Junior
Juniper Bauroth-Sherman was in second after posting a time of 10.54.
Junior
Amanda Traska won the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.55 meters while first-year
Mia Bompensa claimed the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.05 meters. Junior
Lucy Cornett placed second in the pole vault behind a personal best mark of 2.45 meters.
Sophomore
Hannah Quinn finished second in the weight throw behind a personal best mark of 12.62 meters and led the Bears in the shot put as well in sixth with a throw of 9.92 meters. First-year
Lily McGrath finished fifth in the weight throw behind a mark of 10.64 meters and sophomore
Leah Lewis was seventh in the event behind a personal best throw of 9.24 meters. Sophomore
Talia Jones finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 9.15 meters and McGrath placed 10th after posting a throw of 9.04 meters.
First-year
Aubrey Myers paced Ursinus in the 800 meters with a fourth place finish on a time of 2:37.17 and sophomore
Kira Wise followed with a personal best time of 2:41.83 in eighth. First-year
Elizabeth Dill rounded out the top 10 with her time of 2:43.29.
Junior
Lily Nagy led the Bears in a pair of jumping events by placing fourth in the triple jump at a mark of 9.91 meters and sixth with a mark of 4.50 meters in the long jump. Traska was seventh in the long jump on a personal best mark of 4.49 meters.
Ursinus has a month off before returning to action on Sunday, January 19th by hosting the Collegeville Classic at 10:00 a.m.
