WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team used a dominant showing on defense to cruise past McDaniel 12-4 in Centennial Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Bears improved to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in Centennial Conference play. Meanwhile, the Green Terror fell to 7-4 overall and 3-3 in conference action.
The Bears broke onto the scoreboard halfway through the first quarter when sophomore
Barrett Denlinger scored at the 7:46-mark and was followed 43 seconds later by classmate
Aidan Kirk to make it a 2-0 game. Sophomore
Lars Homan added to the Bears lead at the 1:31-mark with a goal that brought the score to 3-0 into the second quarter. Ursinus got its man-up scoring going in the second quarter as sophomore
Harry Sweitzer took advantage of a man-up situation at the 11:28-mark of the second quarter before junior
Wade Mutz followed with his first collegiate goal at the 10:07-mark. Senior
Drake Kasoff made it a 6-0 game at the 8:09-mark with his first of the game before the Green Terror ended the Bears scoring run with 6:16 left in the second quarter off a second chance opportunity.

Jeff Douglas led the second half off by creating the Bears seventh goal of the game by himself when he caused a turnover in the Green Terror end, scooped up the ball, and scored on the other side. Denlinger kept the Bears rolling with his second tally at the 10:58-mark before Homan added his second at the 3:18-mark to make it 9-1. Kirk notched his second goal of the game at the 1:21-mark and junior
Christopher Pucciarelli beat the horn to send the Bears into the fourth quarter with an 11-1 lead. Senior
Scott Sloan capped the Bears scoring in the fourth quarter with a goal at the 7:59-mark.
The Bears held a 59-37 shot advantage for the game and a 33-23 edge in shots on goal. Ursinus held a sizable 34-14 advantage in ground balls behind a 14-6 edge in face offs. Senior goalkeeper
Jonathan Singer earned the win behind making 16 saves in 49:22 in action while first-year
Philip Goldfarb made his collegiate debut with three saves in 10:38. Green Terror goalkeeper Brighton Lorber suffered the loss after making 21 saves in the full 60 minutes. Homan led the Bears with four points behind two goals and two assists while Kirk and Denlinger each tallied two goals apiece.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, April 6th as they will travel to face Haverford in Centennial Conference play at 12:00 p.m.
