COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. – Behind a 12-6 run in the first half, the Ursinus College women's lacrosse team were upended on Tuesday evening by Colorado College, 20-11.

Maeve Leonzi paced the Bears offense with a team-high four goals, while classmate
Grace Lynch added two goals on the day. The duo has recorded multi-goal performances in each of the Bears first four contests, while Leonzi four goals ranks as a season high. Junior
Julia McCann finished with a team-high three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Ursinus tallied the opening goal as Leonzi collected her first goal after splitting two defenders and sending her shot over the shoulder of the Tigers netminder at the 13:52-mark. Leonzi tallied her second goal just over a minute later, but each scoring opportunity was answered by the Tigers to tie the score at two apiece. Each team went scoreless for nearly four minutes of play until both teams traded goals to tie the score at three with 7:21 remaining in the quarter. Lynch's first goal came as the equalizer as she received a pass and made a diving effort in front of the net to tie the contest. Colorado College responded with four straight goals, before Lynch added her second score of the night to cut the Bears deficit to 7-4 at the end of the opening stanza.
The Tigers carried the momentum in the second period scoring the opening goal of the period, before each team was held scoreless for nearly four minutes of play. After the Bears defense denied multiple scoring opportunities, Leonzi recorded her third goal via a free-position opportunity cut the Bears deficit to 8-5. Colorado College regained the momentum with three straight goals to extend their lead to six with 5:23 remaining in the first half. Sophomore
Ashley Noto found the back of the net at the 1:25-mark, but the Tigers answered with a goal in the final seconds and held a 12-6 advantage at halftime.
The Tigers continued to capitalize in the third period as they scored the opening six goals, before McCann netted her first goal with 6:50 remaining in the quarter. Sophomore
Kate Adams won the ensuing draw control as the Bears pressured the Tigers into an own goal to make the score 18-8 at the 5:40-mark. During the ensuing draw control, first-year Jamie Michaud snagged a loose ground ball before sprinting through the Tigers defense and finding the back of the net for her first goal of the game. Mary Michaud each tallied goals in the final period, but the deficit proved to be too large as Ursinus fell 20-11.
The Tigers held a 26-18 advantage in shots on goal and a 24-9 edge in draw controls. Ursinus earned successful clears on nine of their 13 opportunities (69.2%) with Colorado College finished with a clear percentage of 66.6% (4-of-6). Sophomore
Camille Hubbs suffered the loss in net for the Bears recording six saves, while Colorado's Cassidy Schnaufer collected the victory behind three saves.
The Bears successfully converted on all four free-positions opportunities, while the defense forced a total of 19 turnovers. Colorado's Kendall Havill finished with a game-high eight points behind six goals and two assists.
The Bears will wrap up their spring break trip with a neutral site contest against Carthage College on Thursday, March 11th at 11:00 a.m.
