COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team was edged 9-8 by Washington College on senior day Saturday afternoon at Patterson Field in Centennial Conference action.

Riley Cesarini electrified the Bears crowd by winning the opening faceoff and scoring seven seconds into the contest to put Ursinus up 1-0. Junior
Christopher Pucciarelli added to the Bears lead at the 12:49-mark before the Shoremen reeled off four unanswered goals to go up 4-2 at the 11:55-mark of the second quarter. Sophomore
Chris Bryant ended the run at the 10:19-mark of the second quarter that made it 4-3 which carried into halftime. Sophomore
Barrett Denlinger tied the game at four at the 9:28-mark of the third quarter, but the Shoreman scored three straight goals to go up 7-4. Sophomores
Harry Sweitzer and
Nick Fareno scored goals around another Washington College tally that made it an 8-6 game headed into the fourth quarter. The Shoremen opened the fourth quarter with a goal that made it 9-6 and Sweitzer plus senior
Scott Sloan scored to make it a 9-8 game with 6:45 left in the game. Ursinus had chances in the final 30 seconds to tie the game, but a shot off the post and save in front of the crease ended the game.
The Bears held a 44-41 shot advantage for the game but the Shoremen held a 25-19 edge in shots on goal. Ursinus held a slight 29-28 edge in ground balls and an 11-8 advantage in face offs after winning 3-of-4 in the fourth quarter. Senior goalkeeper
Jonathan Singer made 16 saves for the Bears in the full 60 minutes while Will Charvala tallied 11 saves for Washington College. Senior defender
Jeff Douglas caused five turnovers to gain control of the Bears single-season caused turnover record at 37, topping the previous mark of 35 held by
Chase Rondeau in 2022.
Ursinus wraps up on Saturday, April 27th as they will travel to face nationally ranked Dickinson at 12:00 p.m.
