COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Volleyball team started fast, and they never looked back as they earned a dominant straight set win over Neumann (25-11, 25-13, 25-20) on Wednesday night in their home opener at Helfferich Hall.
With the win, the Bears improved to 3-1 overall and exacted revenge for their 3-1 setback to Neumann last season. Meanwhile the Knights fell to 0-4 overall.

Mel Eglinton led a balanced effort from the Bears as she recorded a game-high eight kills while posting five digs and classmate
Lexi Couch followed with six kills and two blocks. Senior

Alonna McCummings each tallied five kills while senior
Rachel Bernard paced the offense with 13 assists. Junior
Erin Dychdala added 10 assists and five digs in the win.
Each team traded points early in the first set which left the score knotted at four before the Bears hit the gas and won nine straight points to go up 13-4. Ursinus continued to dominate in the first set by hitting a sizzling .667 as a team and did not let their lead go below eight points. The Bears built their lead out to as many as 14 points after gaining set point.
Ursinus ran off seven straight points after Neumann again won the first point of the set to go up 7-1. The Bears maintained their lead out to 11-6 and went on another run of six straight points behind four kills to go up 17-6. Neumann could only get within eight points again in the rest of the set and the Bears won six of the last eight points to go up 2-0 in the match.
The Knights held strong early in the third set as they won the first two points and knotted the set at five after winning three straight points. After a pair of three-point runs from each team, the Bears delivered the match-controlling run of winning 12 of 14 points to go up 20-10. Ursinus won the final six points of the run in a straight run. Neumann made a last surge of winning five straight points to cut the Bears lead down to 20-15 before the Bears won four straight of their own to reach match point. The Knights won another five straight points to make it 24-20 before a service error ended the match.
Ursinus hit .361 as a team compared to Neumann at .000 and was not blocked during the match.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday, September 10th as they will travel to face Stockton at 7:00 p.m.
