COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Basketball team dropped a high-scoring 100-88 game to Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon at Helfferich Hall in Centennial Conference play.
Senior
Trevor Wall led the Bears with 26 points and grabbed two rebounds and two steals. Junior
Nick Nocito registered 22 points behind going 6-of-8 from the field while adding seven assists and five rebounds. Junior
Mohamed Toure scored 18 points behind going 6-of-9 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range and senior
Marlin Wise totaled 14 points and six rebounds.
The teams went back and forth throughout the first seven minutes of the first half as neither team could take a lead larger than two points while trading the lead eight times. Gettysburg surged ahead with a 16-4 run that left them up 30-17 at the 7:05 mark of the first half. Ursinus worked the deficit back down to seven points at 34-27 with 3:58 left in the first half but Gettysburg countered with a 12-5 run to take a 46-32 lead at the half.
Gettysburg stormed into the second half with a 10-4 run to go up 56-36 at the 17:09-mark of the second half. The Bullets took the largest lead of the game at 64-41 with 15:07 left in the second half. Ursinus made a 26-10 run to pull within six of the Bullets at 76-70 at the 7:43-mark but would get no closer than that.
The Bears shot 51.9 percent (27-of-52) from the field and 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from three-point range following a sizzling 71.4 percent (10-of-14) in the second half. Ursinus went 23-of-31 (74.2%) from the free throw line and held a slight 33-31 rebounding advantage. Gettysburg shot 51.6 percent (32-of-62) from the field, 14-of-25 (56%) from three-point range, and 75.9 percent (22-of-29) from the free throw line.
Ursinus takes on Muhlenberg at home next on Wednesday, January 22nd at 6:00 p.m.
