COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Indoor Track & Field team returned to action on Sunday in the first time in over a month at the annual Collegeville Classic at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.
Senior
Meghan Carroll topped her own school record in the 600 meters with her time of 1:42.94 that bested her 2023 mark of 1:43.77. She led four Bears in the race as juniors
Corrine Martello and
Veronica Filippone were second and third on times of 1:56.16 and 1:57.94, respectively. Sophomore
Kira Wise completed the group in fourth with her time of 2:00.29.
Senior
Ryann Wauthier won the 3,000 meters after crossing the line with a time of 11:07.11. Senior
Candace Hudson placed fifth with her time of 12:15.57 and junior
Brooke Richards placed sixth on her time of 12:51.72. Junior Kira Norling placed seventh on a 13:01.79, first-year
Julianna Mullen rounded out the top-10 on a 13:39, and first-year
Nicole Parisi was 12th at 13:53.74. Junior
Mia Sideris was runner-up in the 1,00 0 meters with a time of 3:16.93 and first-years
Aubrey Myers plus
Elizabeth Dill placed back-to-back in sixth and seventh in the mile on times of 6:20.73 and 6:39.27.
In sprints, senior
Rainah Dunham paced a 1-2-3 finish for Ursinus in the 60 meters after crossing the line at an 8.12. First-year
Nadly Gyapong was second with a time of 8.14 in the finals and classmate
Emily Barlam was on third on an 8.47. Junior
Kaelin Ryan won the 200 meters with a time of 27.21 and sophomore
Sam Wechsler was runner-up at a time of 27.91. First-year
Sam Leo was third in the 200 on her time of 29.13 and junior
Lily Nagy placed fourth on a 29.55. Senior
Sierra Hufnagle was the lone Bear in the 300 meters and finished third on a time of 50.42.
Wechsler led a trio of Bears in the 60 meter hurdles after winning the finals on a time of 9.78 and junior
Juniper Bauroth-Sherman was second behind her time of 10.52. Ryan placed fifth to round out the trio with an 11.77.
In throws, sophomore
Randi Wood won the shot put after posting a winning throw of 9.50 meters which led six Bears in the top-8. First-year
Lily McGrath was third on a throw of 9.23 meters and sophomore
Hannah Quinn was fourth on a toss of 9.08 meters. First-year
Kamarah Jones finished with an 8.27-meter throw in sixth and sophomores
Talia Jones plus
Leah Lewis posted throws of 8.24 meters and 7.75 meters, respectively. Quinn took the weight throw behind a career best mark of 13.57 meters and McGrath was second on her throw of 10.48 meters. Wood finished fourth with a 9.48-meter throw and Lewis was sixth at 7.68 meters.
Bauroth-Sherman led a 1-2 finish in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.05 meters and first-year
Mia Bompensa was second on a 2.60 meter mark. Junior
Amanda Traska won the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters and sophomore
Madison Lippay finished third on her jump of 1.45 meters. Leo took the long jump for the Bears with her mark of 5.05 meters while Nagy (4.49 meters) and Traska (4.48 meters) finished third and fourth, respectively. Junior
Rhiannon Okuniewski was sixth on a jump of 4.24 meters.
Ursinus returns to action next weekend as student-athletes will be represented in two events. Multiple Bears will be at the Widener Evening Invite hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Friday, January 24th and the team will finish at Franklin & Marshall's Coach I Open on Saturday, January 25th.
